美國當代法學家，二十世紀七○年代新自然法學派主要代表之一。先後任教於耶魯大學、牛津大學、紐約大學等，著有Taking Rights Seriously (1977)，A Matter of Principle (1985)，Law's Empire (1986)，Philosophical Issues in Senile Dementia (1987)，A Bill of Rights for Britain (1990)，Life's Dominion (1993)，Freedom's Law (1996)。
