喬治亞大學成人教育系教授。研究領域為成人發展與學習，以及質性研究方法。曾服務於北美成人教育研究年會（North American Adult Education Research Conference）及成人教育教授委員會（Commission of Professors of Adult Education）的指導委員會，並曾擔任《成人教育季刊》（Adult Education Quarterly）共同主編。著作包括《生命線：成年期的工作、愛與學習的型態》（Lifelines: Patterns of Work, Love and Learning in Adulthood, 1991, coauthored with M. C. Clark）、《成人教育者及訓練者的研究指南》（A Guide to Research for Educators and Trainers of Adults, 1995, Second Edition, with E. L.
